Texturing
For all the objects exept the hippo I created the textures in photoshop with tile images. I first downloaded the images from the website textures.com then modified their colour, pattern and size. This was the first look I created for the main arch, but realised it was too washed out and light when compared to… Continue reading Texturing
Modeling
I strated by modeling some details like the chandelier, then I modev to modeling the stairs. For the main arch that looks like a mandala, I first modeled in maya the basics, and for the deteriorated look I sent to Houdini and applied a voronoi destruction node. After I had everything modeled I move to… Continue reading Modeling
Concept
For my final major project I decided to create a full 3D scene that could later on be used for an animation or live-action movie. Since I want to be a modeling artist, I decided to pick a concept art which I’ve seen posted in ArtStation by concept artist Jourdan Tuffan. His main idea was… Continue reading Concept
Final Shot
My final outcame came out not as I expected. I wished I had more time to work in comp. Firstly, I would need to glue merge the CG building with the original one by using the rotopaint node. Second, I would add the reflection in the CG window, probably by getting the original one, and… Continue reading Final Shot
Compositing w10
To composite the scene, I rendered 3 different layers, one oly for the building, one only for the shadows, and an extra ID one. For color correcting I used the ID pass to make alphas and color correct each part at one time.
Lighting w9
To begin lighting the scene, I found an HDRI of a sunny day. While analysing the plate, I’ve seen the sky was clear, it was sunny, and I matched the hdri position to the footage’s sky. Then I added more lights to make the texture’s color match the color in the original footage.
Texturing w8/9
I devided the whole building in separate different parts, only combining the one that look the same in the real building. Then I went through the process of opening all the UVs. They had to be well organised and with straight lines, because I will later take them to Photoshop and paint them. After opening… Continue reading Texturing w8/9
Final Shots
This is reel with the shots I worked on: I’m pretty satisfied with the results. Being a little critic, For the robot’s shot, I wish I had more time to add more lights in the part it starts talking, and also fix the render issues with the sparkles around the head. For the second shot,… Continue reading Final Shots
