This week I started to block the building I want to extend to have a better visualization of what I’m aiming for.
First, I tracked the footage in Nuke building a 3D scene. Although the tracking seems pretty solid and the cards are sticking well to the wall and roof, when it gets to the borders of the frame, it doesn’t distort as much as in the footage. I don’t have any information in regards to the lens or camera that was used to film it, so Nuke didn’t suit me well in finding the accurate distortion it has. I will still use it to start modeling the building while I don’t track it in 3D Equalizer.
I tracked creating a 3D camera and scene and used some tips we learned last term to make the track better, such as roto out the sky and reflection parts as in the windows.

After that, I exported a fbx file and opened the camera and cards in Maya and started blocking out the building.
