UV and Texture Steam Engine

This week I worked on opening all the UV’s and started adding some texture to my model.

There is one object that is giving me a hard ti8me to apen the UV because appears an error saying it can’t unfold. I opted to stick with the automatic UV for this specific object for now, until I can fix this problem. The two pictures below show the object and the automatic UV.

Also, I learned a new feature in Maya, which you can transfer the UV from one object to another if they are exactly the same having the same number of faces.

For the textures, I downloaded 3 different ones from textures.com: one rusted copper, one rusted silver and one silver painted in black paint.

I started adding the silver and rusted copper into the scene as shown on the picture below.

But I feel like the engine should be painted in some colour, so for next week I will be changing the textures. The copper also feels a little flat.

I also started building the scene , adding some planes with aiShadowMatte texture to behave as a shadow, importing the tracked camera and cards from Nuke, placing the hdri and added the png sequence to a image plane as a reference of the footage.

Building up the scene made me realised that the tracking I made in Nuke was a little off. After investiganting the reason, I’ve realised that I tracked the footage using a different format that the footage has: I tracked in HD and the footage is in 2K. For next week I will definitely fix the tracking.

Also, after to talking to Nick, my tutor, we came to a conclusion that the area I placed the engine is not the best one, since one can’t see the whole design looking from this angle. He then suggested for me to place the angine in the back room like this:
